My Philosophy

My approach to making music and records is rooted in respect. It has taken me many years to see that respect for artists and their ideas has even more value than originality, energy, coolness, or renown. When an artist is respected, their ideas have the power to truly reach people and transform the world.

Guiding a musical idea from concept to expression requires empathy, instinct, and perspective. The process for each unique recording project must be uniquely determined to support the vision and heart of the artist. In order to stay true to the idea, this process will be different every time. Making a record isn’t factory assembly, it’s navigating an evolving path of decisions by deliberation and instinct.

Writing

Clearly communicating an idea requires relentless respect of it’s truth

Arranging

Bringing the heart an idea to life is dependent on trusting our intuition, and trusting voices we respect

Recording

Capturing it all deserves to be done with discernment and diligence

Mixing

Finalizing a recorded song challenges us to preserve it’s uniqueness and revere it’s intent
